Pupil Barrister

Anna started pupillage in October 2017 and her current supervisor is James Tucker.

During her first six months of pupillage she gained a broad experience across Chambers’ practice areas under the supervision of Mark Williams.

Anna frequently attended trials in the magistrates’ court for matters such as assault, theft and driving offences. She also attended the Crown Court for appeals against sentence and conviction and watched a five day sexual assault trial.

In March 2018 Anna spent two weeks observing in various magistrates’ courts across the South West in readiness for her second six.

Prior to starting pupillage Anna worked as a County Court Advocate for a year where she represented clients in a variety of hearings before a District Judge. In this role she strengthened her confidence presenting a case before a tribunal and responding to unexpected points of law and fact. Anna liaised with parties at court, conducted conferences and negotiated where appropriate in order to achieve a favourable outcome.

After finishing her degree Anna worked for West Mercia Police as a member of staff compiling and maintaining police records, giving her some familiarity with the processes undertaken prior to charge.
