Charley was awarded a Pegasus Scholarship and spent three months working at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. Charley focussed on cases brought against the UK and covered a broad range of human rights abuses including right to life, right to fair trial and a number of very interesting privacy cases.

Charley has experience representing clients in Article 2 and non-Article 2 inquests, with and without a jury, dealing with issues such as disclosure, appropriate verdicts and PFD reports. Charley is a sympathetic advocate able to make clients feel reassured and supported in an often very tense and difficult environment.
Charley has acted for local and national charities at public planning inquiry. Charley has developed skills in order to effectively cross-examine world leading experts in the fields of sustainability, traffic management and ecology. Charley received particular praise from the Inspector in one case for how quickly she assimilated rebuttal material and her concise and effective cross-examination.
Charley’s strong background and experience in criminal defence work makes her ideally placed to provide advice in relation to wrongful arrest, police assault/ill treatment and abuse of power. Charley recently represented a Claimant at trial in respect of wrongful arrest and false imprisonment. Charley regularly advises claimant’s and accepts work on a CFA basis.

Charley is the Justice spokesperson for The Green Party, a trustee of the Avon and Bristol Law Centre and on the steering group for the Bristol Immigration Detention Campaign.
