Ruth was called to bar in 2001 and practised crime for many years before focusing of Children Law matters. She has been accepting instructions in family matters since 2012 and has practiced exclusively in this area of practice since 2018.

Ruth has developed her practice in family law building on her strong interpersonal skills and an ability to relate to clients from difficult backgrounds and with challenging personal circumstances. Having studied psychology prior to law she brings strong understanding and empathy in representing clients with chronic and acute mental health difficulties, issues surrounding capacity and those who struggle to communicate instructions and/or follow court proceedings.

She has dealt with cases involving the most serious domestic violence and sex complaints and has a wealth of experience cross-examining witnesses in a tenacious but sensitive manner.  She is also adept at scrutinising and advising upon forensic evidence and working with professionals from many disciplines.
