Chief Executive of Queen Square Chambers Retires

Steve Freeman has retired as Chief Executive of Queen Square Chambers as of 31st December 2017 after many years at the helm.  Steve began his clerking career in 1972 and was one of the original clerks at All Saints’ Chambers (as it was then known).  By the 1990s Steve was widely thought to be the best clerk in Bristol.

He became Senior Clerk at All Saints’ Chambers in 1995 and was instrumental in the move to Queen Square in 1999.  Steve went on to be Senior Clerk and later Chief Executive of Queen Square Chambers and led the clerking team until his retirement.

“We are extremely grateful to Steve Freeman for his total commitment and dedication as CEO at Queen Square for over 20 years and we all wish him well in his retirement. We are fortunate that he has left us with a strong clerking team to go forward and expand into the future”. – Chris Taylor, Head of Chambers.

The robust team Steve led remains with Chambers. James Dowse will now head up Chambers’ civil and family clerking team and Colleen Inker will lead its criminal and regulatory team.  Any administrative enquiries will be dealt with by Amy Wood.
