Alex has a vast amount of experience within the criminal courts. He has practised as a criminal defence solicitor since 1995, prior to being called to the Bar in 2018.  He qualified as a Higher Courts Advocate (Crime) in 2000 and has practised in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) regularly since then. Alex is also a level 2 prosecutor for the CPS.

Due to his time as a solicitor he understands all areas of practice, from disclosure to client care, procedures at the police station and in the higher courts. He has had extensive first-hand experience, over twenty years, of representing suspects at the police-station and of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) in practise.

Alex is a confident and persuasive advocate who continuously obtains positive outcomes for his clients; he is well equipped to deal with the most serious of cases. With a calm, friendly and approachable manner, he is able to get on well with those he represents and those who instruct him.

He has handled a wide and varied range of jury trials in the Crown Courts including charges of manslaughter, rape and serious sexual offences. Along with these he has also defended clients in large drug conspiracies, frauds, cases of serious violence and serious road traffic offences.
